AFC’s cup involvement ended for another year after defeat on penalties to fellow Division Five side Red Lion Dunston, in the third of four games between the two sides this season. Harry Rickels returned to the side in place of James Smith whilst Mike O’Keeffe took over emergency goalkeeping duty from player-manager John Purdy.

Cup Dream Over Again For West End Walking Wounded
After being reinstated into the Fred Quibell Junior Cup AFC travelled to Horncastle to take on AFC Harpars for a place in the quarter finals. West End were patched up and missing many regulars, on the day their substitutes were both carrying injuries going into the game. Harpars had great form going into the game, sitting joint top of Division 6 having already caused upsets in the cup this season.
AFC West End Reinstated Into Fred Quibell Junior Cup
Following the monthly league AGM on Monday, AFC West End have been informed by league secretary John Wilson that they have been reinstated into the Fred Quibell Junior Cup. This comes after the disqualification of AFC’s previous opponents Welton S&SC Reserves.
West End will now travel to Horncastle on Sunday 20th February to take on Division Six leaders AFC Harpars in the second round of the cup. The fixtures on this website have been updated accordingly.
