AFC West End went giant killing, dumping Branston Reserves out of the cup in superb fashion with a 3-1 victory after extra-time in a tie that constantly swung back and forth. Adam Bierton saved a first half penalty to keep the scores at 0-0 but West End soon fell behind after failing to clear their lines following a period of constant Branston pressure. Technically an away trip but still played on the West Common; AFC took on the daunting prospect of Monks Road Working Men’s Club. Monks Road were strong throughout their side and took control of the game early on with a powerful finish from the edge of the box. Monks Road added two more goals to make the game comfortable whilst West End rarely threatened and deserved nothing more than what they got from the game. The one plus point was goalkeeper Adam Bierton’s performance keeping the margin down.
